If you think hula hoops are just for kids, think again. This childhood favourite has come full circle, and of late is one of the hottest workouts for adults albeit with a new spin. In some parts of the U.S. there are hula hoop fitness classes, using specially designed heavy hoops.
'Hula-ing' tightens the tummy, trims your waist, burns 100 + calories in 20 minutes and loosens up tight hips, say hula enthusiasts.

In the meantime, grab your child's hoop (or visit your local sporting goods store) and hula your way to fitness with the following moves:
For waist and Abs: Stand with feet wider than hip-width apart. Spin the hoop around your waist while rotating your hips in a circular motion. Keep your abs pulled tight.
For aerobics: Hula jump, using a large hoop as you would a skipping rope.
Tone shoulders: Spin the hoop on your arms to tone your shoulders.
Improve balance and agility: Lay the hoop flat, and hop in and out of it to improve balance and agility.
