Pep Rallies
Cheerleader
Land Pep Rallies
What Should
Pep Rallies Include?
Good pep rallies should have:
- Cheers, chants,
and yells that will get everyone excited. Have a lot of lead
cheers so the crowd can follow.
- Skits, plays, games,
and activites that involve the faculty, sports teams, clubs,
students, etc.
- Introduction of
teachers, players, coaches, cheerleaders, etc.
- Keep everyone involved
in what is taking place. This way pep rallies will be fun and
not boring. Most students don't really look forward to pep rallies,
so it's your goal to make them look forward to it!
- Short routines
and performances by other school teams like: drill team, stomp
team, dance team, and so on. Not just the cheerleaders!
- Discussion and
talks by coaches, faculty, students, etc., on sportmanship,
school spirit, school activities, and so on.
Tips
On Good Pep Rallies
- Be prepared! You
need to know how everything is going to go, don't wait until
the last minute to plan. You should make sure everyone who you
want to participate is available, you should have everything
you need for the pep rally (props, etc.) and you should know
what's going to happen.
- Be organized. A
sloppy, unorganized pep rally isn't going to make a lasting
impression on anyone. They should be well thought out and thoroughly
planned before the pep rally actually takes place. Every girl
should know exactly what will take place.
- Be creative and
original! Don't do the same thing over and over because then
everyone will know what to expect, and it wil get boring. Try
new things for pep rallies, it might turn out to be your best
yet. Don't worry about what other people might think as long
as you all think it's a good idea. Make each pep rally different!
- Keep everyone involved,
don't forget anyone, especially not the crowd or sports
teams because you need to get them excited and ready to do their
best. They're the reason you're doing the pep rally right? But
keep everyone involved & you'll have a great pep rally!
- Practice the pep
rally routine a lot! Your goal is to get everyone full of pride
and spirit, and if you pracitce once, you won't do a very good
job. If you have a good, organized routine, you'll keep the
crowd spirited! They'll know that you've worked hard, and are
genuinely trying to get them interested. Practicing in your
skirts helps too!
- Involve the bands,
students, sports teams, clubs, etc. You should try to involve
as many people as you can. They can really boost school spirit
and make the pep rally that much better. Also, you can use them
in skits and plays. For example, the band can play when you
enter, and then the basketball players can be in a skit.
- Decide on a theme
for the pep rally. It shouldn't be just a bunch of completely
different things strung together. It will make no sense when
you perform it.
- Keep all speeches
and announcements to the point so it can be quick but say what
needs to be said. If the speech just goes on and on, people
will get bored. Don't be rude, of course, let your principal
talk, but keep it to a limit.
- Make your entrance
exciting, flashy, and fun! If you just walk in, how exciting
would that be? Try to make it exciting by spiriting, interacting
with the audience, leading them with yells, etc. Go in with
the mascot if possible so you can play along.
- You should have
some music during the pep rally. Not during the whole
pep rally, but there should be some to get the crowd spirited.
Music makes a pep rally more fun. But don't make the mistake
of playing an entire song. Music should change often and be
fun.
